MR4RP (Jerry and Mary): Tough one here. Let’s just dive in – after much discussion we give it Almost But Not Quite (See at Reduced Rate). If we hadn’t read the book we might actually have rated it See Opening Weekend – but just can’t. The cinematography took you into the period. Hal Holbrook – perfect! Rosie – a real star and wonderful. Christopher Waltz and Reese Witherspoon – as we imagined. Robert Pattinson as young Jacob – what a disappointment. He lacked the passion of the character in the book – didn’t seem that he was the man Marlena would fall in love with. We hoped for more.  Movie lacked the passion, the pathos, the Heart of the book.
